Todays #blogtober17 prompt is ‘Christmas’. I love present giving. I love thinking about the person I’m buying for and what will make them say ‘wow’. If I can find unusual gifts then that’s even better…
I was introduced to a company called ‘Uncommon Goods’. At first I thought ‘eurgh, expensive American company’ but actually there’s a good reason things aren’t at the knock off price. They are an ethical company who work with artists and smaller manufacturers so there’s a selection of beautiful and unique items that you don’t find in most shops. Considering my instashopping addiction you can see I’m attracted to supporting independent sellers where I can.
Gifts for J
I had a look at the kids gift section kids gifts section and straight away I loved this construction yard plate. Those who read my blog regularly know J is a difficult eater and every meal time is a battle ground. Well I have found a plate that will make J want to see what’s on his plate. The plate I arranged as a construction site and has groves for the fork/spoon to go into it. Then the fork and spoon themselves at construction vehicles! How fun does this look? So that goes into my basket…
Here’s my top 5 favourites…
There’s also two personalised Christmas presents that I’m having a debate about. Which do I order as they are both really cute? Which do you think?
Gifts for family
Here’s a breakdown of the gifts I found for family…
My sister: ‘What’s Your Poo Tells You’
Well why not? It’s the perfect gift for my younger sister as we have had way too much poo conversations over the years. She’s also a carer so poo features in her day quite regularly. Obviously this is a joke present and she’ll get a ‘nice’ gift too’
My husband: Super Magnetic Putty
My husband is very much in touch with his childish side. He likes to fiddle and play with things so when I saw this in the stocking stuffer section I knew it was for him. I can imagine him and J finding different magnetic items…I must hide my nice fridge magnets!!!
My Mum: Chocolate Soap
Amber Chocolate, Fudge Brownie, Chocolate Bar and Raspberry Drizzle.
My Dad: Beer opening glass
My Dad isn’t a big drinker but he will have a beer or two at Christmas. This glass has everything all in one. He can open his beer using the opener at the bottom rather than all of us frantically searching for the one bottle opener in the whole house! Great time saver, haha.
Uncommon Goods delivers to the UK (check individual items though, and be aware that it is shipping from America). Also, you can pay through PayPal which is a big plus for me as I always feel safer paying that way. I will add that one reason I’ve liked this company is there stance of sustainability and being eco friendly. I like that they sell items that are fur free as I am really fussy about where materials come from. They seem to care about where goods are sourced from. Big plus there guys at Uncommon Goods.
So, that’s a bit more of my Christmas shopping/browsing sorted. I’m aiming to be done by November so I don’t have that mad rush to buy and wrap everything with a (will be) 3 year old running loose. How are you doing with your Christmas shopping? 🎄
