Review: The Fairy Tale Workshop-‘Mummy made’ wooden gifts

I love wooden decorations and wooden toys. J’s bedroom has many wonderful wooden decorations and toys to promote imaginative play. Even though he is into his Star Wars and Lego I still like to bring in wooden toys where I can. When I first saw Sophie’s Instagram page I loved the colours and the style of decorating. There was a large selection of items to chose from. Some were personalised and others colour coordinated sets. It was beautiful. Sophie and I got chatting over messenger and despite being relatively new to the world of being a ‘mummy boss’ she has such as passion for it…and for making her customers happy.

The Fairy Tale Workshop was started after Sophie was looking for a wooden fairy decoration for her daughter and finding that the options she found were either extortionately priced or just not what she was looking for. She decided to make her own and see how it turned out….which led to quite a love for decorating resulting in her daughter gaining more items as Sophie experiment with different decorations. Her daughter, of course, loving it all.

The name came from the magical theme that was behind her first creations. The fairy was the beginning of this adventure and so it needed to be included in the name.  It continues to inspire Sophie and enable her to be creative and experiment (including being asked to make 4 enormous rainbows!). She wants everyone else to have the ‘magical’ feeling when they receive their items. The Fairy Tale Workshop isn’t a glitter covered wooden shed in the middle of a forest but a home based business run by a busy mother of two.

When asked what the best thing about running your own home business is, Sophie said it was have the ability to stay at home and choose when to work. She can make extra money whilst doing something she genuinely enjoys. However the worst part of working from home is that it’s hard to switch off. You can’t get away as easily. Working from home is something that’s not as easy as it sounds. It takes dedication and planning.

So, I wanted to try out The Fairy Tale Workshop for myself. Sophie was kind enough to gift us with wooden stacker. She gave us sooooo many options. We could choose the style, the colours and patterns. I decided on a cloud stacker as I thought this would go well in J’s bedroom. I keep his bedroom as a calm space with neutral decorations so the clouds would fit right in.

The stacker is beautiful. I can’t find a single flaw in it. The paint work is great, the raindrops are perfect and it all fits together nicely. J was eager to explore it and was taking it to pieces and reassembling. He then used them as bridges for his little cars and was placing them in different positions on his unit. I was going to put them up on his shelf but instead they are on the play unit so J can continue exploring them.

It’s great to be able to support independently owned businesses, especially where you know its helping a family. Sophie has been on a short maternity leave after birth of her newest and gorgeous little one, and is returning to her fairy tale workshop. I hope that you’ll pop over and have a look at her beautiful work. I will certainly be keeping an eye on her page.

Are you a wooden toy/decoration fan? What items from Sophie’s page have caught your eye? Let me know in the comments. As always you can also find us on FacebookInstagram and Twitter.

(You can find The Fairy Tale Workshop on Sophies Facebook page or on her Instagram page.)

Disclaimer: This is a product review of The Fairy Tale Workshop. I received our cloud stacker free, to enable me to try out Sophie’s work and see for myself how the ordering and delivery system worked as well as assess her product. In return I agreed to a blog post and social media links. All views are my own and are my honest opinion.
